Community, Empowerment, Healing

Our mission is to help women reclaim their strength and create a home & life supported by community, dignity, and possibility.

Rick’s Place is being created as a community where women can live off-grid while sharing the experience of independent living in a supportive environment. It will empower women by helping them build their own habitat through education in approved building techniques and hands-on training, with the option of living on the land once their structures are complete.

The experience at Rick’s Place will include opportunities to explore ancient animistic spiritual practices that can enhance overall empowerment, always in a way that respects individual beliefs and choice. Rick’s Place will also partner with local animal welfare organizations to foster dogs on the property while forever homes are found for them, giving residents the chance to participate in animal care and rescue.

As stewards of the land, Rick’s Place will honor the property by returning it, as much as possible, to its natural state through sustainable building and land practices.

The Story of Rick’s Place

Rick’s Place was born out of a family legacy and a promise between brothers. Many years ago, Bob was sitting in his brother Rick’s front room when, out of the blue, he said: “You know bro, if you die and I get this house because you didn't leave a will, I'm going to turn it into a woman's shelter.”

Rick died young, and Bob became the executor of his small estate. After selling the house and distributing the proceeds to Rick’s niece and nephews, Bob’s brother Rog encouraged him to take his share and use it, along with Bob’s share, to “get something going.” Rick’s Place is the result of that decision and that shared family intention.

Rick taught Bob about unconditional giving. Bob says he doesn’t think he ever saw Rick mad; Rick showed him what it was to be “a really nice guy” who would give you the shirt off his back. Bob believes, in his heart, that Rick would completely approve of the vision being built in his name—and that Rick’s spirit will be present in the community that grows there.

Experience in Community Healing

Bob Berg, Founder and Visionary of Rick's Place - brings hands-on experience in creating and caring for community-centered healing spaces. For the past six years, he has served as director and caretaker of Santa Maria Centro de Salud y Paz in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico—a holistic retreat center that welcomes people of all belief systems and hosts workshops, classes, retreats, and community events.

Through this work, Bob has helped facilitate women’s retreats, community gatherings, and opportunities for personal growth and spiritual exploration. That experience helps inform the vision for Rick’s Place: a welcoming, grounded community where women can build practical skills, find connection, and move forward with greater confidence and independence.

The Spirit of Condor

The Band of Feminine Awakeners Has Arrived - Read the Article

Rick’s Place is guided by the Spirit of Condor, inspired by an ancient prophecy that speaks of balance between the path of the Eagle (mind, building, masculine energy) and the path of the Condor (heart, intuition, feminine energy). The condor symbolizes rising into our power, healing through community, and restoring balance between strength and compassion. For Rick’s Place, the Condor represents women awakening to their inherent worth, rebuilding their lives alongside one another, and creating a grounded, heart-centered community that honors both the land and the people who live on it.
